Questions
Renewful is a UK business. It works out which notices each subscriber needs and when, sends them, gives your customers a one-click cancel page and records that each notice went out. It is not a law firm and does not give legal advice.
About RenewfulHow much can the CMA fine under the DMCC Act?
Up to £300,000 or, if higher, 10% of turnover in a final infringement notice (section 182(6)). The CMA can do this without going to court first.
What is the DMCC Act?
The Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 gives the CMA direct fining powers over consumer law and sets up the new subscription contract regime. The detailed subscription rules are in regulations made under it.
What are the draft Consumer Subscription Contracts Regulations 2026?
The draft Consumer Subscription Contracts (Cancellation and Information) Regulations 2026 were laid on 19 October 2026. They set out the pre-contract information, cooling-off, reminder and cancellation rules for auto-renewing subscriptions, and are due from 1 January 2027, subject to Parliament.
Do you work with anything other than Stripe?
Stripe only for now. If you bill through something else, tell us when you sign up so we know what to build next.
Do the new rules apply to my business?
Probably, if you sell subscriptions to consumers in the UK. The “Do the rules apply to me?” check takes a minute and tells you whether to look further.
Are the rules in force yet?
No. The Regulations are in draft and due from 1 January 2027, subject to Parliament. We call them draft Regulations until they are made, and we will update the site the day that changes.
Does Stripe already send these notices?
Stripe sends receipts and some renewal emails, but not every notice the draft Regulations describe. See the comparison above for what is covered.
How many days before renewal must a reminder go out?
The law doesn't fix the number of days. You choose a window, state it at checkout and stick to it. The calculator shows our suggested defaults.
Does using Renewful mean I am covered?
No tool can promise that. Renewful sets up and sends the notices and keeps a dated record that each one went out. That record is yours to show.
How long does set-up take?
It is designed to take about 15 minutes: connect Stripe, check the schedule, switch it on.
What does the founding offer mean?
The first 20 customers get about 35% off for life (Starter £19, Growth £39 a month), and billing starts when the rules start.
What does Renewful read from Stripe?
Your plans, subscriptions and customers' names, emails and billing countries. It only changes anything when a subscriber cancels through your cancel page.
